Welcome!
Hi! I’m Shawna,
If you’re here, chances are you’re beginning again in some part of your life. (Or you’re my mom or my aunties! :P Thanks Mom!) Maybe you are single again or you’re wondering if you should be. Maybe you are nearing retirement or all your kids have finally moved out. Or maybe you’re simply wondering what comes next.
The Second Wind Society is where I write honest posts and letters about rebuilding a meaningful life - slowly, thoughtfully, and without pretending to have all the answers. I notice things, I remember things, I love a lot of people and I like to write about it all. Sometimes not very well, and sometimes, I hit a nerve and even make myself cry at the words I write.
More than this, I’m someone who values simplicity, creativity, and meaningful living. I read. I quilt. I organize. I play games. I hang out with friends and family. I don’t clean my house very often because I live with one of my best friends - Golden Girls Style - and we’d rather sit and chat and have a drink (or two)!
I also want to help other women do the same—simply, and without pressure. I want to help you find permission to just be who you were always meant to be before the world told you that you can’t. Like many women, I’ve reached a stage of life where I want things to feel more intentional… not more complicated.
Second Wind Society is a space for women like us.
